School Not Canceled at -14 degrees..?
So Wednesday morning it was -14 degrees, the absolute coldest it has gotten all winter long. No delay, cancelation, or hope of surviving the cold that day. Fortunately, It was delayed thursday morning because it was below -10 again but, are we really putting our students in danger becaused we are too far behind to cancel school? Shouldn't we be more concerned about our student's well being than missing school days? Our new super intendent should be more concerned about our health than going to school for 180 days. Teachers need to make their schedules less complex and not as spread out if they really feel missing a week of school will set them that far behind. We rarely ever finish every chapter in the entire book anyhow. We never get let out of school during may anyhow so going into June doesn't matter to me anymore.

Taking A Look Back..
Writing the "I remember when" essays really brought back the fun memories of my childhood. It's the little things in life that made life hilarious. Whether you fell down, peed your pants, broke your glasses, its the little memories that were so hurtful back then, that are so funny now. How you took getting into trouble so seriously and now you look back and wonder why you ever even cried over it. I love to look back and laugh at old memories and reunite with old friends. That feeling of satisfaction after reuniting with an old friend and filling the old holes always brings warmth to your heart. I love old memories and old pictures because its always fun to look back whether its the good times, or the bad.

My Applauds to Innocence is Bliss
Innocence is Bliss was Great! I could sense and feel the excitement building up as she arrived to the baseball diamond getting ready to cheer on her boy. The way you get butterflies and how its "totally uncool"for the guy to wave at you but, you obnoxiously wave anyhow so he knows you are there.. I think all girls can relate to that. The way she starts from the beginning and everything was in place then changed to the scarcity of High School approaching, I loved how she goes from confident to insecure in the moods. You will always have those times in your life you will never forget and that you cherish because you felt secure, happy, and accepting of yourself. Things will change and nothing can last forever, but develop into and adapt into new beginnings. You can't fight the clock.

School or No School ?
Yesterday we (we being Southwest Allen) were given a cancelation. Do I agree? Absolutely, the ice was extremly slick and extremly thick. Sheets and sheets covered throughout Fort Wayne. Yet still, only some schools were given two hour delays like Fort Wayne Community. Is this a safety risk to allow school during such scarce conditions? Are they to blame if one of their attentive students were to get into an accident on a slick winter day? I think yes. Their school board is responsible for expecting young and adult drivers come to school on time like regular schedule when the weather conditons are not on persay regular schedule. You can't fight nature.

Responding to the 3 essays...
I wasn't really impressed by any of the essays because all three had barely any comparisons. In peer review I read an essay about a track meet and that should be in the list of well-written essays. That person not only had descriptive details but also comparisons that did not just flat out tell me word- for-word what happened at the track meet. By using the type of comparisons and descriptions that person used, it leaves your imagination to develop what's going on in the story, not just words literally telling you step by step what happened. But, if I had to pick Faja would have been the best essay because it did not flat out tell you what was happening. It left certain questions unanswered, which I liked.

Inspirational affiliation to "Ground Zero".
The emphasis of Ground Zero is that when tragedy strikes a nation, everyone is connected in some way, shape, or form. Whether you personally lost someone, or the feeling of emptiness in place of what once was, Americans felt connected after the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001. Burne illustrates the devastation many Americans faced when visiting the actual site of Ground Zero.
Suzanne Burne fought her way to get a ticket to finally see for herself what lies beneath those sacred grounds. She finds herself to not only see the pit, but an access ramp where fire fighters stood honoring the bodies of those whom they lost. "Gathered along the ramp were firefighters in their black helmets and black coats. Slowly they lined up, and it became clear that this was an honor guard, that someones remains were being carried up the ramp toward the open door of an ambulance." Page 164.
She then saw fellow Americans stand up either out of respect or for their own benefits to see. "Everyone in the dining room stopped eating. Several people stood up whether of respect or to see better, I don't know. For a moment, everything paused." Page 164. This realization makes everyone enduring the death of a fallen firefighters unite as Americans. We as Americans are tied together with our respect and empathy for our own people.
This essay portrayed the true empathy Americans felt after the 9/11 attacks. After reading, I am inspired to go to Ground Zero to really feel the mood and connection of these sacred grounds. Seeing the devistation on television is heartbreaking, but walking and seeing those same grounds as those who have fallen right before my eyes would be surreal. The imagery and personal connection to every person in America is what makes this essay famous.
